Oh, there we were. We happy, frustrated few. We, the denizens of a pixel-driven history plagued by tirelessly trying and retrying various IRQ settings to get the sound and video to work properly because our hardware came with no such documentation. We, the DOS gaming generation.

“A-bomb prepping. A-bomb launch detected.”

Reflecting on things I take for granted, things which are an everyday part of how I play videogames today, I think of what used to constitute that for me.
