I miss painfully campy television specials. This obscure gem from 1976 combines all the requisite elements of network holiday specials: beloved “retro” actors reprising the roles that made them famous, a delightfully campy host, and a vaguely inappropriate superstar being shoehorned in to draw the kids. I think this might be a new tradition to match the Star Wars Holiday Special as a warmup to It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown! Happy Halloween!
SPOILER ALERT: The “vaguely inappropriate superstar” is KISS, and it is brilliant in all its lip-synching glory!
