1
00:00:00,240 –> 00:00:01,829
so I’ve been having some electrical

2
00:00:01,829 –> 00:00:04,079
trouble with my car, and I haven’t been able

3
00:00:04,080 –> 00:00:07,350
to diagnose it or really work on it at

4
00:00:07,349 –> 00:00:11,069
all at. I haven’t had the time, so as a stopgap I

5
00:00:11,070 –> 00:00:14,460
decided I was going to install a battery

6
00:00:14,460 –> 00:00:16,289
disconnect switch and I would you know

7
00:00:16,289 –> 00:00:17,819
take care of the problem with voltage

8
00:00:17,820 –> 00:00:20,670
drain so I’m going to show you how to do that

9
00:00:20,670 –> 00:00:23,250
now and this is this is great if you

10
00:00:23,250 –> 00:00:25,230
have a vehicle that you drive on

11
00:00:25,230 –> 00:00:27,750
occasion this is a great way to save the

12
00:00:27,750 –> 00:00:29,730
batteries in an RV or something like that

13
00:00:29,730 –> 00:00:32,1000
just a very quick easy way to take the

14
00:00:33,000 –> 00:00:35,129
voltage load off so the battery doesn’t drain

15
00:00:35,130 –> 00:00:37,529
so quickly I picked up this battery

16
00:00:37,530 –> 00:00:39,300
disconnect switch from Harbor Freight

17
00:00:39,299 –> 00:00:41,819
for about five dollars you don’t have to

18
00:00:41,820 –> 00:00:43,828
get it from Harbor Freight of course I’ll

19
00:00:43,829 –> 00:00:45,420
drop a link to something similar in the

20
00:00:45,420 –> 00:00:48,558
doobly-doo for your reference

21
00:00:48,558 –> 00:00:51,718
Jesus that’s a mess this is what living

22
00:00:51,719 –> 00:00:53,460
in South Georgia for a few years can do

23
00:00:53,460 –> 00:00:56,190
to a car I don’t recommend it also

24
00:00:56,189 –> 00:00:58,378
you’ve probably noticed that I’m doing

25
00:00:58,378 –> 00:01:00,987
this is a series of stills that’s because

26
00:01:00,988 –> 00:01:03,388
there was no way that I was going to be

27
00:01:03,390 –> 00:01:06,390
able to fit a camera on a tripod much

28
00:01:06,390 –> 00:01:09,360
less enough light in the boot of my tiny

29
00:01:09,359 –> 00:01:12,688
car to get video so I just shot stills at

30
00:01:12,688 –> 00:01:16,438
least you can see what’s going on two by

31
00:01:16,438 –> 00:01:20,609
two hands of blue actually sulfuric acid

32
00:01:20,609 –> 00:01:22,859
is no joke and neither is lead exposure

33
00:01:22,859 –> 00:01:25,019
you don’t really want to touch that

34
00:01:25,019 –> 00:01:27,868
stuff if you can help it show some love

35
00:01:27,868 –> 00:01:31,649
put on a glove so you’ll want to reach

36
00:01:31,650 –> 00:01:33,450
in and disconnect the negative lead from

37
00:01:33,450 –> 00:01:35,610
the battery that’s the black one do

38
00:01:35,609 –> 00:01:37,407
this by loosening the bolt that holds

39
00:01:37,409 –> 00:01:39,449
the lead clamp down on the terminal

40
00:01:39,450 –> 00:01:41,759
don’t ask me what size wrench to use

41
00:01:41,759 –> 00:01:43,019
because they’re all different

42
00:01:43,019 –> 00:01:45,358
I used a 12 millimeter end wrench on my

43
00:01:45,359 –> 00:01:49,109
car but yours may vary

44
00:01:49,109 –> 00:01:51,849
all that dielectric grease makes it look

45
00:01:51,849 –> 00:01:53,918
like Dexter Morgan was here but at least

46
00:01:53,920 –> 00:01:58,150
there’s no corrosion now

47
00:01:58,150 –> 00:02:00,489
just clamp the lead onto the shank end

48
00:02:00,489 –> 00:02:04,719
of the disconnect switch the switch has

49
00:02:04,719 –> 00:02:06,069
its own terminal clamp that you’ll need

50
00:02:06,069 –> 00:02:07,629
to loosen a bit in order to fit you on

51
00:02:07,629 –> 00:02:09,789
the battery terminal but a little finesse

52
00:02:09,789 –> 00:02:12,699
will get it snug there then you just

53
00:02:12,699 –> 00:02:18,399
focus you f**k that’s better then you just

54
00:02:18,400 –> 00:02:19,629
take your end wrench and tighten the

55
00:02:19,629 –> 00:02:22,539
clamp down that’s it

56
00:02:22,539 –> 00:02:25,119
all finished righty-tighty engages the

57
00:02:25,120 –> 00:02:27,249
electrical system lefty-loosey disengages

58
00:02:27,250 –> 00:02:30,490
it that’s really all there is to it it’s

59
00:02:30,490 –> 00:02:32,619
a very simple installation you follow

60
00:02:32,620 –> 00:02:35,129
the directions all photos here in this

61
00:02:35,129 –> 00:02:38,048
video so you know if you like this video

62
00:02:38,050 –> 00:02:39,850
absolutely give it a like and a thumbs

63
00:02:39,849 –> 00:02:41,858
up share it with your friends even for

64
00:02:41,860 –> 00:02:43,269
more stuff you can subscribe I

65
00:02:43,270 –> 00:02:45,430
appreciate that and thank you for

changinglanes

There is this amazing little piece of technology–standard now on every car–that indicates to other drivers your intent to change lanes or otherwise deviate from your present course. You might have seen this small lever on the steering column and wondered why it makes blinky arrows appear on the instrument panel when you actuate it. The blinky arrows correspond to blinky lights on your car that indicate your intentions to other motorists! You would do well to remember to use them!
