Internet Arcade Features 900+ Broswer-Playable Titles

Sure, there’s a few bugs, and there isn’t sound on many of the titles, but as a demonstration of concept, the Internet Archive has done a phenomenal job of porting the MAME software to Javascript and making it run within a browser window. The concept is noble enough: the JMESS project aims to make “computer history and experiences” fully-embeddable as any audio, video, or image file.

Personally, I prefer to have MAME installed on a dedicated or semi-dedicated machine, but for the casual fan, this may come as a long-overdue injection of nostalgic fun. In addition to arcade games, the project includes emulators and games from many of the classic systems including the Atari and Sega families.

Shall we play a game?
