It’s Been 20 Years Since This Man Declared Cyberspace Independence

It is among the great speeches of the mid-1990s, alongside “Independence Day” and Baz Luhrman’s “Everybody’s Free (To Wear Sunscreen)”, and it is just as relevant now as it was then.

John Perry Barlow stands by his Declaration of Independence of Cyberspace, the libertarian idea that lit up the Internet on this day in 1996.
