Basically, Prohibition and Carpetbaggers killed the Southern alcohol culture. 100 years ago, Atlanta rocked the bock, Hooch wasn’t just a river, and punch had a little more kick. Bourbon is the choice drink of hillbillies; I prefer a touch of rye in my “brown” cocktails.

Think the mint juelp was invented in Kentucky? That fruit punches were for tame church gatherings? It’s time for a revisionist history lesson.
