This model steam engine belonged to my grandfather–“Grumpy”. Grumpy was a sort of benevolent curmudgeon as his name might imply. He was also an engineer and tinkerer of the first class. He had a hand in building the first C-130 and C-5 to come off the assembly lines at the Lockheed plant in Marietta. I’m not entirely sure when he acquired it, but he kept it in pretty good condition throughout his life. I “inherited” it (Granny gave it to me) some years later, and it’s been a source of inspiration for me as I grew up.
