Torrents are great for more than just pirated media: I use torrents to quickly [and legitimately] download operating system images and other large pieces of software. I also use a variation of the BitTorrent system to directly and securely sync files on multiples computers without the use of a third-party intermediary such as Dropbox or Google Drive.
Gun-rights advocates would do well to get behind BitTorrent as the argument is the same: it’s not the tool, it’s all in how you use it. Logic and rights have to apply universally; you can’t pick and choose which ones to protect.
The feds seized the world’s largest torrent site this week. What happens next has serious implications.
