Chili’s Bar & Grill Commercials (late 1980s)

A trio of Chili’s commercials from the late 1980s advertising their various new offerings.

Remember when Chili’s was called “Chili’s Hamburger Bar & Grill”? Remember sweat bands?

Apparently the milquetoast just got married and his new bride can’t cook, so he meets his buddies at Chili’s to gorge on microwaved food. Or did they actually cook things fresh back then?

Not exactly my idea of a romantic night out, but when you have kids and live in the suburbs, you take what you can get, right?

Church’s Chicken: “The Shrimp Platters” (circa 1992)

Church’s hired a trio of little people to sell their new fried shrimp dishes (They’re the “Shrimp Platters”–get it?). I’m not completely certain that they’re actually little people, too, but that could just be a quirk of the tape. I’m also not completely sure that this wouldn’t be offensive to today’s tastes, but I’m not a little person.
