Winter Storm, Christmas 2017

Naturally, I enjoy no complications from snow since moving to California, but as soon as I go home for the holidays….

Old National Discount Mall: “Something New” (circa 1992)

Does anyone remember going to the Old National Discount Mall down south of Atlanta? We had the Outlets LTD mall behind Town Center in Kennesaw when I was a kid (now part of KSU), so a trip to the other side of town was out of the question! I do remember these commercials in heavy rotation back in the day, though!

NASCAR Commercials (circa 1989-1992)

Remember back when no one wanted the broadcast rights to NASCAR, so Turner took a chance and ran wild with them?

How about back when the only people who knew what NASCAR was were walking out of a screening of “Days of Thunder”? Those were the days!

Big Star: “Food Budget Tight?” (circa 1992)

Did anyone ever shop at Big Star? I remember a couple of them around Marietta–in what I remember being “sketchy” areas. There was the one where Fairground St intersects SoMar Pkwy, next to the old County Tag Office (where the Food Depot is now). I think I remember another one being up on the hill across from the Pizza Hut we used to go to at the intersection of Sandtown and Powder Springs. I still remember that big, star-shaped lighted sign glowing in the rainy night….
